Kahanaiwi is a Native-Hawaiian, family owned company. Originally from Kailua, O'ahu, we are now based in Beaverton, Oregon.
We started out as two best friends carving bone in our free time. Living so far from home, it was our way to stay connected to the islands. We quickly realized that there were many Hawai'i transplants here in the Pacific Northwest who were also looking to stay connected to the islands. Wanting to share our craft, we began with college lu'aus and area Hawaiian events and slowly began adding screened shirts and vinyl cut stickers that reflected our culture, our language.
Now, our products include apparel for KANE (men), WAHINE (women) and KEIKI (children). We also carry vinyl stickers cut in a variety of designs and colors for a wide range of uses. It is a rare event that we display or sell our bone carved pieces these days; we hope to add that back to our line again.
Kahanaiwi is proud to provide Hawaiians, Hawaiians-at-heart and Pacific Islanders with positive, Hawaiian-themed and culture-based products. With these products, we hope to continue to share with our customers a little bit of the culture and language that we grew up with and love so much.
All of our designs are created by owner Kaliko Yokoyama, some at the suggestion of his ohana or customers. Custom orders? Sure! Let us know and we can work with you.
